Severn Glocon systems meet international approval 9th February 2012

Severn Glocon has been awarded two internationally accepted standards demonstrating that it has strong policies and procedures associated with environmental management and health & safety.

The valve engineering and manufacturing specialist, headquartered in Gloucester, UK, has proved that its systems meet the exacting requirements of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.

ISO 14001 focuses on the delicate balance between maintaining profitability and reducing the environmental impact of business activities. OHSAS 18001 is concerned with developing and maintaining enhanced occupational health and safety management systems to minimise risk to employees.

In terms of reducing environmental impact, the organisation has set a host of measurable targets to be achieved between 2012 and 2013. It has implemented a framework for setting and reviewing goals, with defined indicators to assess performance. Aims include lowering consumption of water and paper as well as adopting more sustainable waste management practices.

Where health and safety is concerned, the company has pledged that regulatory requirements will form the minimum baseline for its in-house policies. Ongoing risk assessments and employee consultations will form part of a strategy to continually raise health and safety standards.

Rob Green, Director of Operations, quotes: “We pride ourselves on our robust systems and procedures, so it is wonderful to receive this official recognition. The welfare of our employees and the environment is important to us, and the registration to these standards proves that we never lose sight of that.”
