Severn RXPE Drives & Energy comes to market 7th June 2012

Newly launched Severn RXPE Drives & Energy, a collaboration between global engineering specialist Severn Glocon Group and power electronics manufacturer RXPE, offers medium voltage variable speed drives (MVFCs) with H-bridge topology.

Designed and manufactured at RXPE’s purpose-built factory; sales and supply are supported by Severn Glocon Group’s international infrastructure. Service and project installation support are also provided.

Suited to one or four quadrant applications, the drives have a regenerative option for use with marine turbines.

The regenerative drive may be connected to a wide range of supply voltages and medium voltage motors without the need for an output transformer. Coupling this with its efficiency, reliability, high power factor, near sinusoidal output waveform and energy saving properties makes it ideally suited for renewable energy applications.

The product range includes two models, the RMVC and the RMVC5 Compact. Technical details are as follows:

• RMVC:

Input 2.3-18kV, 50/60Hz; Output 2.3-10kV, 0-120Hz, 240-15000kVA (single-quadrant), 240-5800kVA (4-quadrant fully regenerative).

• RMVC5 Compact:

Input 2.3-11kV, 50/60Hz; Output 2.3-10kV, 0-120Hz, 240-4000kVA (single-quadrant)
